The Sun
To start drawing the solar system, begin with the Sun. Draw a large circle in the center of your paper to represent the Sun. You can use a yellow or orange colored pencil to give it a more realistic look.
Mercury
Next, draw a small circle near the Sun to represent Mercury. Mercury is the closest planet to the Sun and is small in size. Use a gray or silver colored pencil to draw Mercury.
Venus
Draw another circle slightly larger than Mercury to represent Venus. Venus is similar in size to Earth and is known for its thick atmosphere. Use a light blue or green colored pencil for Venus.
Earth
Draw a circle slightly larger than Venus for Earth. Earth is the third planet from the Sun and is the only known planet to support life. Use a blue and green colored pencil for Earth to represent the land and water.
Mars
Next, draw a smaller circle next to Earth to represent Mars. Mars is known as the "Red Planet" due to its reddish appearance. Use a red colored pencil for Mars.
Jupiter
Draw a large circle further out from the Sun to represent Jupiter. Jupiter is the largest planet in the solar system and is known for its gas giant composition. Use a light orange or brown colored pencil for Jupiter.
Saturn
Draw a slightly smaller circle than Jupiter for Saturn. Saturn is known for its beautiful rings that encircle the planet. Use a light yellow colored pencil for Saturn.
Uranus
Draw a circle similar in size to Saturn but further out from the Sun to represent Uranus. Uranus is unique in the solar system as it rotates on its side. Use a light blue or teal colored pencil for Uranus.
Neptune
Finally, draw a circle similar in size to Uranus for Neptune. Neptune is the farthest planet from the Sun and is known for its deep blue color. Use a dark blue or purple colored pencil for Neptune.
