SM

"Our kids asked to do this INSTEAD of screen time. I almost fell off my chair. We painted our holiday photo together and it was genuinely the best family night we've had."

Age-Appropriate Difficulty

The Right Level for Every Painter

We adjust the complexity so nobody gets frustrated and everyone feels proud of their finished painting.

Ages 6-10

Easy Mode - Big Sections, Bold Colours

Larger numbered sections with fewer total areas to paint. Bright, forgiving colours that look great even with imperfect brushwork. Kids feel accomplished and proud without getting overwhelmed. Typically 15-25 sections per canvas.

Ages 11-16

Medium Mode - More Detail, More Reward

A step up in complexity with medium-sized sections and a wider colour palette. Enough challenge to keep teens engaged without the frustration factor. The finished result looks impressive and frame-worthy. Typically 30-50 sections per canvas.

Ages 16+

Detailed Mode - Full Complexity

The complete paint-by-numbers experience with fine detail, subtle colour gradients, and intricate sections. This is the version that produces gallery-quality results. Perfect for parents who want a genuine creative challenge. Typically 60-120 sections.

We turned off the TV, pulled out the kits, and painted our dog together. My 8-year-old finished hers first and was SO proud. My teenager actually stayed at the table for 3 hours. This is now our Friday night tradition.

Family Pack Questions

What age is appropriate for kids' kits?

We recommend ages 6 and up for the simplified kids' version. The larger sections and bolder colours are designed for smaller hands and shorter attention spans. Kids under 6 can join in with parental help!

How do you adjust difficulty for different ages?

We simplify the same photo into fewer, larger sections for younger painters. Kids get 15-25 sections, teens get 30-50, and adults get 60-120. The image is recognisable at every level - just with different amounts of detail.

Is the paint safe for children?

Yes! We use non-toxic, water-based acrylic paints that are safe for children. They wash out of clothes with warm soapy water while still wet. We still recommend covering surfaces and wearing old clothes just in case.

Can we mix difficulty levels in one order?

Absolutely! Just let us know how many kits you need and at which difficulty levels when you order. For example: 2 kids' kits, 1 teen kit, and 2 adult kits - all using the same family photo.

How long does a family paint session take?

A typical family session lasts 1-3 hours, which is perfect for an evening activity. You won't finish the whole painting in one sitting (that takes 10-20 hours), but you'll make great progress and have a blast doing it.

What if my child doesn't like painting?

Paint by numbers is very different from free-form painting. The structure and numbered guidance removes the intimidation factor. Most kids who "don't like art" end up loving this because there's no way to get it wrong. Plus, our 60-day guarantee means zero risk.
